Vintage BP Thermixine Fuel Can – French Petroliana / Automobilia

A fantastic original vintage BP Thermixine fuel container, believed to date from around the 1950s/1960s.

Thermixine was a BP-branded specialist fuel used in France, including as a fuel for catalytic/flameless heaters. This unusual cylindrical container is a great surviving piece of early BP petroliana and would make a superb display item in a garage, workshop, man cave, showroom or automobilia collection.

The can retains its original green and yellow BP livery, including the period BP shield logo, large THERMIXINE lettering and original French “Prescriptions Importantes” safety label.

The body is also stamped:

SCHMID
BREVETÉS S.G.D.G.
PARIS – TOURS

It retains its original metal carrying handle, supporting frame and distinctive sprung locking filler-cap mechanism.

The can is in original, unrestored condition with age-related scratches, paint loss, surface corrosion and general wear throughout. In my opinion this patina is a large part of its appeal and gives it a fantastic authentic vintage appearance.

Please study all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description and show the condition in detail.
