This is entirely hand drawn in pencil.
Every reflection, shadow, headlight, sponsor logo and detail of that unmistakable purple, white and yellow Silk Cut livery has been individually recreated by hand -representing hours upon hours of work.
And the subject is equally special.
The Silk Cut Jaguar XJR-8.
More specifically, car No. 5 from the 1987 24 Hours of Le Mans. Powered by Jaguar's mighty 7.0-litre naturally aspirated V12, the No. 5 XJR-8 LM was driven at Le Mans by Jan Lammers, Win Percy and John Watson. It ran as high as second during the race before a tyre failure resulted in an accident and retirement after 158 laps. The XJR-8 formed part of Jaguar's return to the forefront of international endurance racing with Tom Walkinshaw Racing - a programme that would lead to Jaguar's famous outright Le Mans victory the following year.
And Abi hasn't simply recreated the car. She's captured it at speed - driver behind the wheel, the car loaded through the corner and the unmistakable Silk Cut livery surrounded by the circuit itself.
The progression photographs show the artwork developing from the faintest pencil outline through to the finished racing scene, with every sponsor marking, headlight and bodywork detail painstakingly added by hand.
But there’s another reason this piece is special…
This is THE ORIGINAL — not a print.
Abi’s original artwork very rarely becomes available on the open market, with much of her work created to individual commission.
No AI. No filters. No Photoshop. No computers. No shortcuts.
Just pencil, paper, hours of work and some serious talent.
Supplied with a signed Certificate of Authenticity from the artist.
